ALAN’s psycho-social consultation service is recognized by the European Commission

In February 2024, the consultation service of ALAN Maladies Rares Luxembourg received the “EU-Promising Practice in the field of Mental Health” label in recognition of its holistic approach to psycho-social support for individuals and families affected by a rare disease.

The methodology of ALAN’s consultation service will be published on the European Commission’s Best Practices Portal, and the association has been invited to present its service to the Ministries of Health of the EU members states in March 2024.

ALAN’s consultation service is free-of-charge and specifically tailored to the needs of each individual/family. The social workers and psychologists offer counselling, psychotherapy, as well as social and administrative support to inform, guide and assist people in aspects such as access to healthcare, administrative procedures, social rights, education, work, family life and social inclusion. By combining social and psychological expertise, ALAN can provide more efficient and targeted support with the ultimate goal of giving patients more autonomy and improving their quality of life.
